Finally some time off from work that isn’t a Monday or Tuesday and I have landed at Stone & Wood Fortitude Valley (open Wed-Sun).

The setup is in an old factory beside the train line in the Valley. Inside looks a treat and airy. Staff are friendly and well let’s look at the beer.

A tasting paddle was acquired at $21 for 5 beers of your choice. Given previous bottleshop purchases of their mass produced products I decided for something different.

Their small and one off batches was called for plus a ginger beer to add to the mix. Starting off with the ginger beer was refreshing and cleansed the palate. The Czech Mate pilsner was a bit of a miss but a good pilsner typically comes from the Europeans. The Legacy Ale with wattleseed and macadamia was delicious and smooth – this is truly a standout beer. TIPA The Iceberg Triple IPA was bitter and heavy tasting given the 10.2% ABV. The stout was quite good and runner up for the day – coffee and chocolate notes to finish the tasting session.

I couldn’t leave without having the Pacific Ale which always goes down well and even better at the brewery.

A shout out to the staff who were great to talk to and really enjoy working there.
